The World Economic Forum (WEF) has highlighted armed conflict, misinformation, and environmental risks as pivotal global issues in its Global Risks Report released just before the annual meeting in Davos. The report draws on insights from over 900 leaders in various fields who participated in a survey conducted between September and October 2024. It asserts that we currently live in a highly polarized world, reminiscent of the Cold War era.

The increasing prevalence of armed conflict, exacerbated by geopolitical uncertainties such as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Sudan, emerges as a foremost concern. As the survey indicates, these tensions significantly influence perceptions of global risks expected in 2025.
