Botswana Diamonds Expands Exploration with New Polymetallic Licenses
Botswana Diamonds has applied for eleven Prospecting Licenses covering an area of 7,322 square kilometers in Botswana to explore polymetallic resources identified through an AI program. The targeted minerals include copper, silver, cobalt, gold, nickel, zinc, and PGM. Chairman John Teeling confirmed the successful acceptance of these applications, indicating a significant expansion of their exploration efforts.
Botswana Diamonds has undertaken significant steps to explore polymetallic resources in Botswana, leading to the application for eleven Prospecting Licenses. These licenses target critical polymetallic resources identified through a recent Artificial Intelligence (AI) exploration initiative. The applications cover a substantial area of 7,322 square kilometers, focusing on various minerals such as copper, silver, cobalt, gold, nickel, zinc, and platinum group metals (PGM).
The applications aim at five distinct mineralization types, namely:
1. Besshi deposits: Primarily focused on copper.
2. Greenstone: Targets copper and nickel.
3. MVT (Mississippi Valley-type deposits): Engages in lead and zinc exploration.
4. Sedex deposits: Concentrates on lead, zinc, and silver.
5. Ultramafic: Involves exploration for platinum group metals.
John Teeling, Chairman of Botswana Diamonds, noted that the AI-driven project, which initially concentrated on diamonds, revealed additional opportunities for discovering various minerals. He expressed satisfaction regarding the acceptance of the prospecting license applications, indicating a successful outcome of their exploration efforts to date.
Botswana Diamonds has strategically expanded its focus from diamonds to other polymetallic resources in Botswana, applying for eleven Prospecting Licenses. This move highlights the company’s innovative use of AI technology to uncover additional mineral opportunities such as copper, cobalt, zinc, and gold. The Chairman’s acknowledgment of the successful applications underscores the promising prospects for mineral exploration in the region.
