In Malawi, reports indicate that three people lost their lives due to the cyclone, with around 20,000 individuals displaced in the southern region, where substantial flooding has occurred. Chiphiliro Khamula, spokesperson for the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA), noted that those displaced are currently being accommodated in evacuation centers.

The cyclone made landfall in Mozambique on a Sunday and subsequently moved towards southern Malawi, with heavy flooding persisting from Monday through Wednesday. Various humanitarian relief efforts are struggling due to the destruction of vital roads and bridges, rendering access challenging, as noted by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). This disaster follows Cyclone Chido, which struck the two nations last December, claiming the lives of 73 people in Mozambique and 13 in Malawi.
