Community Tragedy: Man Killed While Attempting to Prevent Violence at Local Bar

A man named Shepherd Mavhangira was killed in Kwekwe after he tried to prevent three men from throwing bricks at bar patrons. The police are seeking information on the suspects, who are currently on the run, in connection with this murder that occurred on March 13, 2025.

A tragic incident occurred in Kwekwe, Midlands province, where a 45-year-old man named Shepherd Mavhangira was fatally assaulted. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the details and announced a manhunt for the attackers, who are reportedly evading capture. ZRP national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, stated that they are seeking information on suspects Kenias Mapfumo, Armstrong Marumahoko, and Mathias Tatenda Dhlamini, who are connected to this murder case.

Commissioner Nyathi noted, “Police in Kwekwe are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Kenias Mapfumo, Armstrong Marumahoko and Mathias Tatenda Dhlamini who are being sought in connection with a case of murder which occurred on March 13, 2025, at Mushange Business Centre, Zhombe in which Shepherd Mavhangira (45) died.” He elaborated that the assailants struck Mavhangira multiple times, leading to his immediate demise.

ZRP urges anyone with relevant information about the suspects to come forward and report to the nearest police station. The community’s cooperation is vital in bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring safety in public spaces.
