US Voting Participation for 2025 World Zionist Congress Election Surges

Voting for the 2025 World Zionist Congress election in the US has surged, witnessing a 122% increase in the first week compared to 2020. A total of 53,213 votes were cast, and the number of competing groups has grown to 22. Over 2,900 candidates are campaigning, reflecting heightened Zionist engagement ahead of the congress in Jerusalem in October 2025.

Voting in the United States for the 2025 World Zionist Congress election has seen a remarkable increase, with participation more than doubling in the first week compared to the last election held in 2020. According to a press release, the election enables American Jews to influence both Israel’s future and the global Jewish community.

From March 3 to March 10, a total of 53,213 ballots were cast, marking a 122% rise from the 23,938 votes in the same timeframe in 2020. If this trend continues, it is anticipated that the number of votes will exceed the former record of 123,575. In contrast, only 7,639 ballots were submitted during the first week of the 2015 election.

The 152 delegates elected from the US will constitute approximately one-third of the Congress. These delegates will collaborate with international representatives to establish the leadership and strategic direction of the World Zionist Organization (WZO), Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF), the Jewish Agency for Israel, and United Israel Appeal, directing over $1 billion each year to support Israeli and global Jewish communities.

Herbert Block, executive director of the AZM, expressed satisfaction over the increased voter participation, stating, “We are gratified to see the unprecedented voter participation in the election’s first week and anticipate that this pattern will continue throughout the voting period.” He emphasized that the turnout reflects American Jews’ pride in their Zionist identity and a recognition of the heightened stakes for the Jewish and Israeli future.

This election features a record number of 22 competing groups, representing diverse political views and affiliations. This represents a substantial increase from the 14 groups that secured seats in the last election. Over 2,900 candidates from 43 states and territories are participating—an increase of over 60% from 2020.

The 39th World Zionist Congress is set to convene in Jerusalem from October 28 to 30, 2025, following this election, marking a significant occasion for global Jewish engagement.
