Fugitive ‘Killaboi’ Extradited from Qatar to Face Murder Charge

Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, alias “Killaboi,” has been extradited from Qatar to face murder charges for the killing of his girlfriend, Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe. His extradition followed extensive efforts by Nigerian authorities and INTERPOL after he evaded capture for nearly two years. The Nigerian Police Force has confirmed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, known as “Killaboi,” who was wanted for the murder of his girlfriend, Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe. After almost two years evading capture, he was apprehended in Doha, Qatar, and returned to Nigeria on April 19, 2025. The tragic incident occurred on July 13, 2023, at his residence in Lagos, where the victim, a student at Lead City University, was allegedly killed.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced that the extradition resulted from extensive efforts by the Nigeria Police, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, the Federal Ministry of Justice, and authorities in Qatar. The international investigation was prompted by a petition from Onuwabhagbe’s family on September 29, 2024. Following the murder, Killaboi fled Nigeria and attempted to mislead investigators by releasing a deceptive online video.

Declared a fugitive by Lagos State’s Criminal Investigation Department on October 13, 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his arrest. Killaboi was initially captured in Sierra Leone on October 20, 2023, under a false identity but escaped during a prison break in November. He traveled extensively using various fake identities before eventually settling in Doha, where he was employed under an alias on a fraudulent passport.

Adejobi highlighted that advanced biometric techniques and collaboration between INTERPOL NCB Abuja and Doha facilitated the confirmation of Killaboi’s identity, leading to his arrest in February 2025. The Nigerian Federal Ministry of Justice submitted a formal extradition request, which was subsequently approved by Qatari authorities.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the efforts of INTERPOL NCB Abuja and acknowledged various parties, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Government of Qatar, for their cooperation. He assured the public of the Police Force’s commitment to pursuing justice and ensuring the safety of citizens in Nigeria.
