Fatal Attack on Vigilante Helper and Assault on Activist in Niger State

In Minna, Niger State, hoodlums killed bank driver Mohammed Abo’ore during an attempt to apprehend them for drug use. The police confirmed the incident and a suspect was arrested. Separately, activist Nura Yarima was attacked by assailants, prompting investigations to arrest those involved.

In a tragic event in Fadikpe, a suburb of Minna, Niger State, a driver for a second-generation bank, identified as Mohammed Abo’ore, was killed by hoodlums. Abo’ore had volunteered to assist local vigilantes in apprehending perpetrators who were reportedly using an unfinished building to smoke cannabis. During the confrontation, he was fatally stabbed with scissors by one of the assailants and later succumbed to his injuries at the Minna General Hospital.

Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident. He detailed how a vigilante leader alerted members to the presence of miscreants in the Fadikpe area, prompting the vigilantes and Abo’ore’s assistance for a swift arrest. Unfortunately, in the attempt to detain the suspect, Abo’ore was attacked, leading to his tragic death.

The police stated that Abdullahi Rabiu, one of the hoodlums, was apprehended and is currently being interrogated to facilitate the arrest of additional suspects. In a separate occurrence, Nura Yarima, a public affairs personality from Bosso, reported being assaulted by several men identified as Mansir Kabir, Abubakar, Hamza, and Abu. The attack left Yarima severely injured, prompting his report to the GRA Division.

As the investigation continues, Mansir Kabir has been arrested in connection with the assault on Yarima, with efforts made to capture the remaining assailants involved in this heinous act. Police assure that there will be ongoing inquiries into both incidents to ensure justice is served.

The tragic killing of Mohammed Abo’ore highlights the dangers faced by community members when they take a stand against crime. Local authorities, represented by the police, are taking steps to investigate these incidents thoroughly and apprehend all involved.
