Wasiu Abiodun, the command’s Public Relations Officer, detailed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday. The owner returned to find his car missing and promptly reported the theft to the Tudun-Wada Division. The police swiftly disseminated information to all divisions, enabling a rapid response to the disappearing act. It was around noon when officers at a stop-and-search point in Maje intercepted the vehicle and apprehended the suspect.

During questioning, the suspect, originally from Kofar-Dibi in Katsina State, allegedly confessed that he was hired by a syndicate in Abuja to steal the vehicle and deliver it to Dikko Junction. Moreover, he claimed involvement in multiple vehicle thefts across cities like Zaria and Kaduna, where stolen cars were allegedly transported to various points throughout northern Nigeria.

In another development, Abiodun disclosed that police operations targeting drug-related crimes resulted in the recovery of five bags of suspected cannabis and the arrest of twelve individuals. These raids took place early Sunday and Monday and were carried out by officers from the Central Police Division, aided by local vigilantes. The operations focused on known criminal hotspots in Minna, including Paida, Sabon-Gari, and Gwari Market.

The police were able to seize five bags of suspect cannabis from a residence in Abdulsalam Quarters. An 18-year-old suspect was apprehended at the location, stating that the drugs belonged to someone who is currently at large. In total, three additional suspects were also arrested in areas such as Barkin-Sale and Kasuwan-Gwari. Law enforcement continues its investigations as all suspects are expected to face charges in court once inquiries are finalized.
