Ugandan singer Grenade Official has been arrested in China, with no details released about the cause. Born Deus Ndugwa, he has risen through significant challenges to achieve fame in Uganda’s music industry, especially with his hit song “Nkuloga.”
Ugandan singer Grenade Official has been arrested in China, as confirmed by a recent post on his Instagram account. The post, however, did not provide any details regarding the reason behind his arrest, leaving fans concerned and curious about the situation.
Born Deus Ndugwa on July 14, 1997, in Lyantonde, Uganda, Grenade Official had a challenging but inspiring path leading to his music career. He started his early education at Kitebi Primary School before completing Ordinary Level studies at Makindye Secondary School.
Grenade’s music career began in earnest when he aimed to meet the renowned Ugandan music star, Jose Chameleone. A pivotal moment occurred when he traveled on foot from Lyantonde to Kyazanga to catch a Chameleone performance, hoping to settle a debt involving rabbits. Unfortunately, the disappointment came when Chameleone had left before making any payments.
Determined to succeed despite setbacks, Grenade made the journey to Kampala, hitching a ride on a truck filled with musical equipment. Once in the capital, he took a brief job in a music equipment shop in Katwe, but restlessness soon drove him away as he continued his quest to meet Chameleone.
Together with a friend, Grenade embarked on a trek to Seguku in an attempt to meet the music icon again, yet again met with disappointment. During this tough period, he took on various odd jobs, including collecting and selling scrap, to make ends meet.
Chance also played a significant role in Grenade’s journey when he met a producer named Mavo in Kamwokya. Mavo helped him record his initial songs under the stage name Moz Dem, which opened doors for a few performance opportunities. Unfortunately, an argument with Mavo pushed Grenade back onto the streets, battling the odds to find his place.
Things took a positive turn when Grenade visited 9 Degrees Bar and connected with Coco Finger, a fellow musician who took him under his wing. This connection led to meeting Big Eye, another notable figure in the music scene, who offered him accommodation. However, Grenade chose to leave soon after, not wanting to return to school as per Don Zella’s recommendation.
He continued honing his craft, frequently performing in bars with a fellow musician named Hypeman, which resulted in meeting Kevin Killer. This networking eventually led him to Pallaso, with whom he collaborated on the popular song “Walayi.”
Grenade Official really made a name for himself with his hit track “Nkuloga,” which soared him into the spotlight and established him as a force to be reckoned with in Uganda’s vibrant music industry.
In conclusion, Grenade Official’s unexpected arrest in China has left fans in shock, as details remain scarce. His inspiring journey from humble beginnings in Uganda to becoming a notable figure in the music scene underscores his determination and talent. Despite this setback, it will be interesting to see how this situation unfolds and how it will affect his burgeoning career.
