This seismic activity in Morocco occurred shortly after a 5.9-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Vanuatu on the same day. The epicenter was identified as Port-Vila, with a depth of 18 kilometers or roughly 11.9 miles.

Adding to the seismic events, a 7.6-magnitude earthquake had been reported previously on February 8 in the Cayman Islands. Centered in George Town, this quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. A tsunami warning was initially issued for the Mexican coastline, but it was lifted within two hours.

The National Weather Service’s Warning Center issued a statement saying, “With the latest modeling and information, the tsunami threat has passed. There are no alerts posted for the United States or International Partners. The tsunami threat has passed. Unusual currents may be noticed in some areas. Exercise normal caution.”

Prior to these significant earthquakes, California experienced a 3.4-magnitude quake in Petrolia on February 7, which followed a 2.9-magnitude quake in the same area on February 6. Each of these quakes occurred at depths of 10 kilometers and 4.4 kilometers respectively.

The seismic activities began on February 5 with a 4.3-magnitude earthquake occurring in Alaska, located in Sustina at a depth of 5.4 kilometers, demonstrating a series of notable earthquakes in various regions over this short timeframe.
