Jamaican Man Charged with Attempted Murder of Two Florida Police Officers
Reece Anglin, a 32-year-old man from Montego Bay, Jamaica, has been charged with the attempted murder of two police officers in Florida along with Tafari Elliot. The altercation occurred on February 12 during a law enforcement operation. Both suspects fled but were later arrested. Fortunately, the officers were unharmed, and the investigation is ongoing.
A thirty-two-year-old man from Montego Bay, St. James, named Reece Anglin, has been charged with the attempted murder of two police officers in Lauderhill, Florida. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) reported that Anglin and his accomplice, Tafari Elliot, were involved in an incident on February 12. Their immigration status remains uncertain, and Anglin fled the scene but was apprehended two days later on February 14 by Tampa police.
The confrontation occurred as officers from the BSO’s Gang Investigations Task Force engaged with two armed individuals at the Calypso Cay apartments. Upon identification as law enforcement, the deputy instructed the armed men to lower their weapons; however, the men responded with gunfire. In the exchange, Elliot was hit but managed to escape yet was subsequently captured nearby.
Anglin also eluded capture initially but was caught after a brief manhunt. Both men now face charges of attempted murder regarding the officers involved in the incident. Fortunately, no law enforcement personnel sustained injuries during this event, and multiple firearms were recovered at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement leading the inquiry.
