U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Lebanese-American Bill Bazzi as the next U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia. Bazzi hails from Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon and now resides in Dearborn, Michigan.

As a decorated veteran, Bazzi served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps for 21 years, collaborating with various U.S. Embassy officials globally. In Trump’s post on Truth Social, he acknowledged Bazzi’s military contributions and emphasized his service to the nation.

In addition to his military background, Bazzi has extensive experience in the private sector, having worked at Boeing as a quality manager and served as a product development engineer at Ford Motor Company. Following his 22 years at Ford, he took early retirement to serve as the mayor of Dearborn Heights.

Trump commended Bazzi’s efforts during the 2024 presidential campaign, stating, “Bazzi worked hard during the 2024 presidential election to help us secure our historic victory…” He expressed optimism about Bazzi’s potential contributions as ambassador.

Recently, Trump also appointed Michel Issa, another Lebanese-American, as the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon.

The appointment of Bill Bazzi as U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia marks a significant step in representing the Lebanese-American community in diplomatic roles. Bazzi’s extensive military background and private-sector experience were highlighted by President Trump, who expressed confidence in his capabilities.
