A manhunt is underway in Gauteng for 30 suspects accused of bombing five ATMs at a Hammanskraal shopping mall. The incident involved a gunfire exchange that injured a security officer. No arrests have been made, and police are investigating attempted murder and ATM bombings.

The police in Gauteng, South Africa, have initiated a manhunt for approximately 30 suspects connected to the bombing of five ATMs located within a shopping mall in Hammanskraal, Tshwane. This attack occurred early on Sunday morning and involved a violent exchange of gunfire that resulted in injuries to a security officer.

A case of attempted murder, as well as ATM bombings, has been officially recorded as investigators delve deeper into the incident. Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo reported that the confrontation began when a lone security guard performing routine patrols was ambushed and disarmed by the gang.

Subsequently, the suspects proceeded into the mall, where they also stole a mobile phone from another security officer. Their actions escalated as they detonated explosives at five ATMs and proceeded to raid a store, bombing its drop-safe. The situation intensified further when the assailants, during their getaway, engaged police officers in a shootout.

“The suspects robbed him of his firearm and entered the shopping mall, where they robbed the second security officer of his cell phone. It is further alleged that the suspects then bombed five ATMs and broke into one of the shops, where they also bombed the drop-safe,” stated Lieutenant Colonel Masondo. Tragically, one of the security personnel was shot and has since been treated at a medical facility.

Despite the violent confrontations, the suspects successfully evaded capture, and as of now, no arrests have been made. Law enforcement authorities remain vigilant in their endeavor to apprehend those responsible for this brazen attack.

In summary, a group of approximately 30 suspects is being sought by Gauteng authorities for their involvement in a violent ATM bombing at a shopping mall in Hammanskraal. The encounter escalated into a gunfight, resulting in injuries to a security officer while the perpetrators managed to escape. The police are actively pursuing the suspects amid ongoing investigations into this serious crime.
