The New Kartarpura Food Street at Chandni Chowk has attracted attention with its unique offerings, including vendors dressed in traditional Middle Eastern attire spinning lassi in large pots. This food street features approximately 30 eateries and is designed as a spacious, family-friendly alternative to the historic Kartarpura Street.

Kartarpura Street, historically significant in Rawalpindi’s Sikh district, has evolved into a vibrant food hub known for dishes like nihari and siri paye. However, congestion and crowds have prompted the shift of many vendors to the new food street, inaugurated at the start of Ramadan, which will remain operational beyond the holy month.

According to Abdul Latif Rashid from Kala Khan Nihari House, the New Kartarpura food venue has significantly enhanced the dining experience for families. Organizer Raja Usama mentioned the concept took inspiration from Ramadan food festivals in Dubai, focusing on promoting small businesses and creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Muhammad Hamza, associated with Lahore 0 Kilometer, noted the food street is attracting visitors from both Rawalpindi and Islamabad, with lassi offered in seven flavors. Mahnoor Kareem, a language instructor, expressed satisfaction with the food street as a necessary escape from the crowding of the original Kartarpura.

Kanwal Zahra, who serves traditional Pakistani cuisine, highlighted the variety of dishes available, including specialties like palak paneer and authentic sweets. Dumpling vendor Meena Nabeel reported a growing popularity of her momos, with her offerings receiving enthusiastic feedback from customers, particularly for their distinctive flavors and sauces.
