The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan has confirmed the sighting of the Shawwal moon, indicating that Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, March 31. The chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, announced this on Sunday after receiving credible testimonies of moon sightings from several cities, including Islamabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, and Gujranwala.

During the committee meeting in Islamabad, Maulana Azad and other religious scholars, alongside meteorologists and experts from SUPARCO, reviewed the moon sighting reports. “After verifying the testimonies, it was unanimously decided that Eid ul-Fitr will be observed on March 31,” he stated.

Experts anticipated the visibility of the Shawwal moon, which was reported to have been born on Saturday at 3:59 PM and was expected to be over 25 hours old by sunset on Sunday. This clarity confirmed that the moon would indeed be visible to the naked eye, facilitating nationwide Eid celebrations that signify the conclusion of Ramadan.

The confirmation of the Shawwal moon sighting by Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee enables the nationwide observance of Eid ul-Fitr on March 31.
