Clarendon Man Charged with Murder of Local Shopkeeper

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 35-year-old man named Gofar Brown from Havanah Heights has been charged with the murder of 48-year-old shopkeeper Oliver Andrews, known informally as ‘Suity’. The incident occurred on Thursday, April 17, during which Brown allegedly used a firearm to shoot Andrews multiple times before fleeing the scene.
According to reports from the May Pen police, the shooting took place around 8:15 PM as Andrews was working at his business. The officers arrived shortly thereafter, finding Andrews with several gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported to a nearby hospital but, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention.
Brown was taken into custody on April 23, following a meticulously coordinated intelligence operation. By April 24, he had faced questioning in the presence of his attorney, leading to his formal charges, which also include possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm in the commission of a crime. His first court appearance is yet to be scheduled.
